The Connecticut State Museum of Natural History (CSMNH) highlights Connecticut's rich natural and cultural heritage to inspire wonder in and appreciation of the natural world. We use our collections and programming to tell meaningful stories that impact our visitors and create opportunities for interactions with nature. We had a great time at last year’s events and are excited to bring two kid-friendly activities to Third Thursday in 2024!

In June, we’ll explore printmaking with nature – the Museum will bring a variety of natural materials like leaves, nutshells, fruits, and vegetables for stamping or drawing on paper. Participants can make their own print to take home or turn into a button. In July, we’ll be celebrating UConn Extension’s 10th Annual Bug Week by focusing on insects, and treehoppers in particular! Kids will learn about the diversity found in these tiny insects, how they live with and help feed ants, and how the patterns and colors on their “helmets” help protect them.
